Downtown Cabaret
CSV Cultural Center and Purchase College, the State University of New York, presents a downtown arts festival in New York City.
Downtown Cabaret is a mega-concert floorshow with visual art installations. It is the combined work of young professional musicians, dancers and artists associated with Purchase College, the State University of New York.
The Cabaret will have multiple exhibitions, receptions, and two separate evenings of concerts on: Friday, March 16th and Saturday, March 17th
Concerts begin at 7:00 and 9:30 PM.
The Cabaret will extend throughout the gallery space, two theaters (Flamboyan and Milagro) and the cocktail lounge of the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center.
Admission is free to all Purchase College students, and by $5 donation for all others.
The CSV Cultural Center is located at 107 Suffolk Street (between Rivington and Delancey) in New York City. The building is the foremost architectural landmark in that part of the Lower East Side with its distinctive Dutch Neo-Gothic structure having been created in 1898 to house the former PS 160. Clemente Soto Vélez, for whom the center is named, was a celebrated Puerto Rican poet, journalist and activist, who mentored many generations of Latino artists in New York City until his death in 1993.
Support for this performance and exhibition was also provided by the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs and Councilmember Domenic M. Recchia.
